Tax Specialist, Westminster, MD ($20-30/hr)
Immediate need for a Tax Specialist for public accounting firm.

Position Summary:
The Tax Specialist will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and small businesses. This role involves working directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax documents, and ensure accurate and timely filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
• Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of tax experience with public accounting firm.
• Ability to handle all related schedules for 1040s and business returns independently.
• Knowledge of IRS and Maryland tax laws, including state/local filings.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software (Drake and Ultra Tax).
• CPA (a plus), EA (a plus)
