Job Title: Social Work Supervisor - WTC Program

Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital   

The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. It offers comprehensive social work services and programming to meet the myriad needs of the diverse populations we serve. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities.

• The Supervisor will report to the Social Work Program Director who oversees social work services within the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP). 
• The position will involve management of social work services in a grant-funded program that provides medical monitoring, treatment, and follow-up care to rescue, recovery, restoration, and clean-up workers from Ground Zero with WTC-related physical and mental illnesses. 
• Social workers in the program are responsible for educating, counseling, and advocating for patients regarding benefits, entitlements, and resources. 
• They also provide necessary referrals, provide treatment and conduct mental health assessments. 

• The Supervisor will oversee the growth and development of the WTCHP’s external provider network. 
• This entails coordination and engagement with mental health providers in the tristate area that currently treat, or are interested in treating, WTCHP responders with 9/11 related mental health conditions. 
• The Supervisor will also share oversight of social work case management, monitoring and treatment services. 
• The increasing complexity of medical and mental health needs among 9/11 responders is a significant factor contributing to the growth in these areas. 
• Chronic and severe illnesses, such as cancer, along with age-related challenges, are becoming more prevalent within this population. 
• For this reason, experience with psychiatric as well as oncology or geriatric services would be beneficial. 
• Other responsibilities will include quality assurance of clinical services, as well as collaboration in program development, administrative and operational duties. 
• The position will also include direct supervision of social workers. 

This is a hybrid position, with 2 days onsite and 3 days remote.  Staff are expected to come onsite for additional time as needed (for patients, trainings, meetings etc.).

• NYS LCSW.
• Demonstrated initiative in social work program development, management, and administration, including crisis intervention.
• Exceptional collaborative and organizational skills.
• Experience with the provision of services to victims of trauma, preferably with uniform service members or individuals affected by the 9/11 attacks preferred
• Experience in geriatric and/or oncology social work desired .
• Extensive knowledge of entitlements, disabilities management, public and private resources.
• Supervisory experience with social workers or social work interns in an outpatient psychiatry or case management role is strongly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Polish) preferred.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78649 - $127458 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
