The SMH Level 1 RN Psych ER role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in the psychiatric emergency room. This includes conducting intake assessments, planning and administering nursing care, making nursing diagnoses, consulting with psychiatrists, administering medications, and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff. The role also involves maintaining patient confidentiality, accurate documentation, and providing high-quality service.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
- Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design treatment plans.
- Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
- Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
- Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and accepting treatment.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
- Monitor vital signs and ensure pain treatments.
- Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician's orders.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results.
- Perform administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- RN License (NY License ONLY)
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
- CPI Certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- EPIC experience in the same area/specialty within the last year
