Vagabond Missions is seeking full-time missionaries to join them in June 2025. The missionaries should have a heart for the Gospel and a desire to share it with teens from the inner-city. Responsibilities include daily outreach, disciple three to five young people in ongoing formation, and attend meetings, outreach night, and Bible study/worship. Must embrace personal goals of Christian, disciplined living, the pursuit of virtue, and assent to the dogmatic and moral teachings of the Catholic Church. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly preferred. Must have a good work ethic, versatility to work with shifting schedules and changing goals and duties; excellent written and verbal communication skills and conflict management skills; possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers; have a valid, up-to-date driver’s license. Missionaries report directly to area directors as their primary supervisors. Missionaries are stationed at any one of Vagabond Missions’ eight area locations throughout the United States for a minimum, year-long commitment. Our missionaries are disciples of Christ themselves - and from that relationship, they step forward to journey alongside teens in their own relationship with Christ. It is in giving that we receive… and it is in giving of ourselves that our missionaries uncover a radical life in His LOVE. The Purpose of VM Missionary: To introduce inner-city youth to Jesus Christ and his Church through evangelization, outreach, and community building. The VM Missionary life is at its core, relational, as it is friendship and discipleship that are the primary conduits of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the inner-city youth whom Vagabond Missions is privileged to serve. The Primary Task: This Vagabond Missions approach is based on the understanding that the primary task of youth ministry is to: Love and serve youth where they are in life. Encourage youth in developing their relationship to God. Provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth. Invite young people into the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Responsibilities: Daily Outreach in the city (schools, parks, etc). Disciple 3-5 young people in ongoing formation. Aide in basic planning of events, errands, and transportation needs. Fundraising. Missionaries participate in Mission Partner Development. Work in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a teamwork mentality. Attendance at the following meetings is expected: Weekly Staff Meetings, Outreach Nights, Bible Study/Worship, Core Team Meetings, etc. Qualifications and Aptitudes: Must embrace personal goals of Christian, disciplined living, the pursuit of virtue, and assent to the dogmatic and moral teachings of the Catholic Church. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly preferred, but not required. Must have both a good work ethic as well as the versatility to work with shifting schedules as well as changing goals and duties. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and conflict management skills. Must possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers. Must have a valid, up-to-date Driver’s License. Job Status Details: Position is full-time (40 hours per week), Salaried (provided through personal support raising).
