Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Develops, organizes, and conducts individualized exercise programs for cardiac and pulmonary patients to improve cardiovascular fitness and encourage home-based exercise continuation.

• Current knowledge and experience in cardiovascular, pulmonary disease, kinesiology, biomechanics, emergency procedures, nutrition, exercise physiology, health education and promotion.
• Interact effectively with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team, knowledge of group dynamics, and motivational techniques.
• Capacity to deal with confidential and personal matters as related to all phases of rehabilitation.
• Skill to work in a fast-paced environment, including exposure to all patient elements (i.e., blood-borne pathogens).
• Ability to demonstrate and perform aerobic, strengthening, and toning exercises.
• Must be computer literate and have the ability to navigate the internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
• Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology.

BLS certification.

ACLS certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

• At least one year in the current field or completion of three (3) month internship in a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program.
