Custodian II (Bus Driver)

  UNION COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION, INC.

Hiring Location - Monroe, Union County, NC

  Program- Head Start/Early Head Start

  Reports to: Site Manager  

  FSLA- Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the buildings and grounds, ordering supplies, and minor maintenance of Head Start equipment by performing the following duties: 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Primary  

1. Cleans building daily. 

2. Sweeps and mops restrooms (sinks, water fountains and toilets included), cafeteria and halls daily. 

3. Empties trash daily. (No trash is to be left in the building overnight.) 

4. Keeps all cleaning products well organized, labeled and stored in locked storage area. 

5. Replenishes paper products in all restrooms daily. 

6. Cleans offices daily, to include vacuuming carpets and mopping of bare floor areas. 

7. Maintains facility landscape in accordance to agency standards. 

8. Strips, waxes and buffs floors as needed. 

9. Shampoos carpets as needed.

10. Serves as Bus Monitor as assigned. 

11. Drives bus to transport children to and from school, and on field trips as assigned. 

12. Transports breakfast, lunch and snacks, as assigned and required, for meals provided under the CACFP program.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Incumbent must demonstrate a working knowledge of basic hand cleaning tools, carpet cleaner, scrubber, vacuum cleaner, and basic hand tools. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS  

Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to read, understand and follow instructions on use of chemicals and cleaning supplies. Employee must pass a pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening and submit to random drug screenings.  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Incumbent must possess/maintain or obtain/maintain within 90 days of employment, a current CDL and valid state issued driver's license.
