Merchants Insurance Group, is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast, and is looking for a Claims Service Representative for our Central Claims team to join our Corporate Headquarters located in Buffalo, New York. The Claims Service Representative will become part of a dedicated team focused on providing outstanding customer service to our agents, insureds, claimants and other external customers.

Merchants offers its colleagues a Hybrid work schedule. The Hybrid work schedule requires 8 full days per month in the office, with the option to work the remaining days at home or in the office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide quality customer service by means of timely first contact, communication of expectations to customers and the timely responsiveness and disposition of policyholders' comprehensive claims.
  • Answers incoming calls and sets up reported claims timely and accurately in our claim system.
  • Completes timely coverage verification and thorough investigation necessary to ensure an equitable disposition of claims.
  • Performs claim activities such as requesting appraisals, requesting police reports, preparing and mailing payment documents.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior customer service experience required.
  • Insurance background is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Word experience.
  • ImageRight knowledge is a plus.

Merchants Insurance Group Pay information:

Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale. The actual compensation will be determined based upon experience and other factors permitted by law. The initial pay range for this position is $39,000 - $52,000.
